Huangshan Maofeng (2023 New Spring Tea – Pre Qingming)

From: $28.98

Weight: 1.7 oz

Huangshan Maofeng (Yellow Mountain Fur Peak) is a great everyday green tea. Grown at the root of Huangshan mountain range, these tea leaves are usually picked just after the Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day) on April 5th or 6th. The plucking standard for this tea is one bud with two newly opened leaves.

Our Huangshan Maofeng dry leaves are in fresh green color with a soft white fuzz. When brewing, the dry tea leaves unfold to illustrate the beautiful image of new leaves growing on a tea tree.  The liquor has a clean, light apricot color.

This tea tastes mellow and smooth with a delicate sweetness and a fresh floral aroma. It is mild with no astringency and has a light, mouth-watering aftertaste.

Origin: Huangshan City, Anhui Province, China

Brewing Tips:

  • 158°F ~ 176°F (70°C ~ 80°C)
  • It is recommended to brew Huangshan Maofeng in a Gaiwan, glass, or porcelain pot

Description

Maofeng means “fur peak,” which describes the appearances of these tea leaves. When it comes time to harvest this tea, only the buds with two newly opened leaves are picked. Local farmers often say that the leaves resemble orchid buds.

Huangshan is one of the most famous green teas from China. Located in Anhui, the area is also well known for its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds. Every year, Huangshan attracts millions of travelers from around the world to see its iconic beauty.

  1. I was gifted this product for a partnership, but Hence Tea has incredible green teas and this Maofeng is no different! Lovely, lovely cup of tea right here!

  2. Reorder multiple times!

  3. Very fresh, the best full leaf tea I’ve bought ever!

  4. My favorite! Light and fresh!

  5. Huangshan Maofeng (2021) has a wonderful silky mouthfeel. In aroma and flavor, it’s floral-forward, with vegetal background notes–like a flower garden on the edge of a vegetable patch. Really lovely. I enjoyed many sessions over a few weeks before sharing my review. I settled on steeping it with 3.5 grams at 75C for 1.5 minutes in my porcelain gaiwan (about 175 ml). I also enjoyed a second steep at the same temperature and amount of time. I received this tea for free, with no obligation to post unless I sincerely enjoyed it, which I did.
