Songluo Black

$12.98$24.98

Our Songluo dry leaves are rolled in shiny little curls. When brewed, the liquor is in a walnut brown color.

These tea leaves are grown at altitudes over 2000 feet (600 meters) on Songluo Mountain, located between Keemun and Huangshan in Southern Anhui Province.

This black tea tastes smooth and mellow, with honey notes and a sweet aftertaste.

Origin: Huangshan, Anhui Province, China

Brewing Tips:

  • 212°F (100°C)
  • It is recommended to brew Songluo in a Zisha pot

Description

Songluo black tea originates from Songluo Mountain, located between Keemun and Huangshan in Southern Anhui Province. Anhui Province is home to many famous teas in China. The production of tea in Anhui started over 2000 years ago. In ancient China, tea from Anhui is treated as “tribute tea” for the imperial court.

There is also a beautiful legend behind Songluo. During the Ming Dynasty, when there was an epidemic of illness in Xiuning county, the Buddhist Abbot sent every worshipper Songluo tea to brew in hot water and mix with ginger and salt. All patients recovered after drinking the tea.
