It has a range of health benefits, wellness properties, spiritual benefits and it is ingrained in hundreds of cultures all across the world. And of course, it tastes excellent.

Health benefits:

Green Tea: may help lower blood pressure and cholesterol and contains anti-inflammatory properties, reducing skin inflammation.

White Tea: may be effective in fighting cancer due to its high amount of antioxidants.

Oolong Tea: may help to prevent Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. May also help prevent the growth of cancer and risk of type 2 diabetes. 

Black Tea: may help with immune function, relieve pain or swelling on cuts and bruises and help reduce inflammation on rashes. 

Herbal Tea: has many calming properties, does not include caffeine. Certain herbal teas may help remedy common sicknesses like constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, high cholesterol, joint pain, and chronic indigestion.

Beyond just the health benefits that tea itself may provide, also consider it as an alternative to other caffeinated beverages. Tea is less caffeinated than coffee and thus can supplement it without the strong side effects of heavy caffeine consumption. Tea has less calories than coffee and is generally better for weight loss. 

Cultural significance:

Another reason that you should drink tea is for its ties to many significant cultures. Beyond just its health benefits, tea is rooted in tradition and thus holds additional cultural value. Chances are, wherever your ancestors are from, they drank tea. Countries all across the world from China and Japan to Italy and the U.K have a rich history of tea.
