Biluochun, meaning “green snail spring,” is among one of the many famous teas originally grown in China. This green tea is known for its tightly spiraled leaves and floral aroma. The white hairs on the leaves of our Biluochun indicate a higher level of polyphenols, amino acids, and other nutrients, so the more hairs present on the tea leaves the better! These hairs appear more abundantly on Biluochun grown in the Dongting Mountain region, as ours does.

Our Biluochun green tea is picked in early spring(pre-Qingming) which assists in its fruity flavor. Also, the vitamin C present in the tea’s leaves promotes good blood circulation!

Overall, this tea has a fresh, sweet, and mellow taste that leaves a strong, pleasant aftertaste. The lively aroma enhances the tea tasting experience and leaves the drinker feeling relaxed and at peace.

Biluochun

Biluochun tea was originally grown in the Dongting Mountain region of Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Its name literally translates to “green snail spring” as its appearance resembles that of a snail. The tightly spiraled leaves represent the body of a snail.

Kangxi Emperor and Biluochun

During the Qing Dynasty, the tea’s very rich aroma led to the locals referring to the smell as the “scary fragrance.” However, in the 38th year of the Kangxi Emperor’s rule, he decided that the tea deserved a more elegant name and renamed it “green snail spring” or “biluochun.”

Lovely tea! Both in the dry leaves and once steeped. Taste is sweet, mellow, fresh, and vegetal.

This tea does need to be brewed properly to get the great taste and the freshness. But the flavor is great if it is done right. It has become my daily tea after drinking it a few times.

This is a review for Biluochun green tea from @hencetea . This is a beautiful tea that needs to be brewed correctly. Otherwise it will taste a bit off. I’m not sure what I did wrong my first time having it. I think it was my water ratio. I did it right this time so here is the review for this lovely tea.
The leaves are beautifully hairy and have a great scent of light vegetable, plum, floral, and caramel sweet. The first infusion There is broccoli and a small bite of floral. Grass is like new growth. There is a buttery mouthfeel with light mineral and salt finish. The second infusion Is even more buttery. Both in mouthfeel and light flavor. The floral, broccoli stalk, and butter creates a mildly creamy broth. The floral and grassy bite is staying mild and is definitely there, but not overpowering to me. The mineral and salt have softened. The bite is soft and I feel it linger at the tip of my tongue and in my jaw. Not an unpleasant feeling. Just a soft presence. The third and final infusion I will review (more infusions can be had). The floral is the main flavor. The broccoli and salt still give a broth, but with a deep summer taste. Steeped flowers with fresh deep green grass and a hint of salty broccoli stalk broth in mild umami mineral water. Biluochun is a delicious tea that I find more of a challenge to describe because the flavors are delicious, but some are not obvious as to what they are in my mind. Like there is a slight fruity sweetness to this tea. I’m not sure if it is a pear? Either way what matters is if it is good and it is! I recommend this tea if you love floral flavor based teas. Yummmm!
